2740 Founded in 1992 in London, the Society now has about 1000 members. The North Manchester Branch first met in November 2001. We hold regular meetings at Broughton Library for either a Family Tree Workshop or a speaker on aspects of genealogical research. We aim to encourage and assist family tree research and facilitate the exchange of information. We have approximately 200 files and reference books for the use of members. Our annual conference/genealogy fair takes place each May.

Jewish Singles and Community Development – L’Chaim Club A network for young Jewish adults aged 25-40. It is a resource to help integrate this age group within the Jewish community and runs social events including barbecues, cruises and parties. Our traditional Friday night get-togethers bring together people from diverse religious backgrounds and affiliations in the warmth and homeliness of a Friday night. The Committee has representation from a cross-section of the Jewish community including orthodox, progressive/reform and traditional backgrounds, and keeps a database. The Second Generation Group in Manchester constitutes the children of Holocaust survivors. Although it is managed by the offspring of the '45 Aid Society and Holocaust survivors, its membership is open to all children/2nd Generation whose parents were victims of Nazi persecution. Our primary objective is to preserve, perpetuate and protect the memory and testimonies of those who perished and those who survived but sadly are no longer with us. We will act as a support group both for survivors and 2nd Generation. Our remit also involves Holocaust education and awareness, contributing to sustaining the Yom Hashoah memorial presentation. It is also our additional responsibility to respond constructively to contemporary genocides by increasing awareness and consolidate with other like-minded campaigns. The
